1944: as WWII’s bloody conflict is ravaging Europe, two fearless and deadly freedom fighters choose to put their lives at stade fighting for the Holger Danske Resistance. Their codenames: "Flame" and "Citron" Intrepid and uncompromising, Flame dreams of an armed counterattack against the oppressive occupying forces, something which sits uneasily with Citron’s more strategic diplomacy. Ordered to hunt down two Nazi officials, this routine espionage exercise spirals out of control as Flame begins to suspect deception amongst their ranks. Overlong but interestig Danish film about resistence in WWII - Flame and Citron review by PV
I enjoyed watching this Danish movie a lot - for a start, it was an education: I knew NOTHING about the Danish resistance or how all sides in WWII met in neutral Sweden. Secondly, it had some great scenes from fine actors. The shifting sands of war are well portrayed.
Based on a true story - but how much is truth and how much is myth is moot.
My only real criticism is it's just too long - some earlier quieter scenes could, I am sure, have been cut.
AND I wanted to know how all the real life people fared after the war, not just the main 3 or 4 (it tells you this at the end).

Danish anti-Nazism - Flame and Citron review by JD
This Danish film is a true story about 2 civilians (after whom the film is named) who set about killing all Danes who have converted to working for the occupying German army. It is about them as people and the group they work within. If any of this is relevant to you it is a moving and brilliantly acted film with poignant political choices. For me it was well done but not that interesting. 2 biographies, based on much myth and legend no doubt, of two heroic figures standing up against the fearsome opposition. A good 1940s feel about it and characters who were very real, but not dramatic enough.
