Martin (Sebastian Koch) is a talented screenwriter and novelist currently going through a difficult patch in his career. At a party for his daughter he meets a mysterious and alluring French girl (Lotte Verbeek) who disappears and is found drowned. The deceased twin's sister arrives out of the blue.

But which twin is which?
Martin's world starts to change and he finds himself torn between the similarities in this mystery to the disappearance of his wife 15 years ago (for which he is still a suspect), his daughter's insecurities around her acting career, and the intrigue surrounding the twins' past.
