Filmed during the dark days of 1942, this is the immortal story of the Spitfire which had helped to win the Battle of Britain the previous year. Leslie Howard stars as R.J. Salvation comes in the form of Geoffrey Crisp (David Niven), an out of work veteran fighter pilot from the First World War. Together they build the aircraft that so many will owe their lives to. However, as Mitchell strives to perfect his fighter plane, he is rocked by the news that he has only one-year to live unless he stops working. His stark choice is to save himself or save his country.

With the war years a distant memory, Harold Macmillan coins his famous 'never had it so good' phrase. Richard Widmark delivers an indelible performance as Harry Fabian, a small-time American nightclub tout and desperate dreamer who tries to worm his way into the wrestling rackets of post-war London. In his path lie the formidable obstacles posed by a vengeful club owner (Francis Sullivan) and the racketeer Kristo (Herbert Lorn). The club owner's sultry wife (Googie Withers) schemes with him, and a long-suffering girlfriend (Gene Tierney) does her best to save him. Like many a noir hero before him, Harry thinks he can outrun his fate. He's wrong. Jules Dassin, under suspicion in Hollywood for his political beliefs, made the film at great speed, shooting night scenes in a London still shattered and skeletal from wartime bombings.
"Everyone knows who won. But not everyone knows how". The result of the Brexit referendum in the summer of 2016 caused a political earthquake that laid waste to the normally stable British establishment and sent political tremors across the world. This punchy and provocative feature-length drama goes exclusively behind the scenes of the "Vote Leave" campaign, unpacking the personalities, strategies, and feuds of the winning side, and exploring the new world of data-driven campaign tactics. 'Brexit: The Uncivil War' is not an analysis of who was right and who was wrong. It is the story of how it happened, and why - on the high street, in the campaign offices, and the darker corners of the internet. A drama of political ambition and personal betrayals with nation-changing results.

This is a song filled tribute to New Orleans the town where jazz was bom, performed by its greatest proponents. Arturo De Cordova plays Nick, the owner of a Bourbon street gambling joint who after falling in love with a socialite (Dorothy Patrick) wishes to raise his respectability and begins a campaign to thrust the disreputable music known as jazz onto the mainstream American stage. The film features over nine classic musical numbers including The Armstrong All Stars A Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday duet "The Blues Are Brewin'' and rare solos by Kid Ory and Barney Bigard. Featured songs "Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans", "Endie", " Beagle Street Blues", " Tiger Rag", "Honky Tonk Train Blues", " King Porter Stomp" and many others. A long overdue addition to the cannon of classic jazz films.
Ernest Hemingway s spare, laconic short story about two professional killers and their encounter with a mysteriously unresisting victim was significantly expanded into this all-time film noir classic, which Hemingway said was the first adaptation of his work that he really admired. As washed-up boxer turned hitman victim Ole 'Swede' Andreson, Burt Lancaster made his screen debut, and was catapulted to instant stardom, not least for the screen chemistry that he showed opposite sultry Ava Gardner, whose Kitty Collins is the very personification of the femme fatale. German émigré Robert Siodmak was one of the filmmakers who helped create film noir, and Elwood Bredell s high-contrast cinematography, all harsh lighting and long shadows, elevates the film far above a conventional crime drama. But even on that level it s a first-rate demonstration of how to maintain narrative tension, with the flashback structure withholding crucial details until almost the very end.

While it first premiered on British TV screens fifteen years ago, 'The Politician's Wife' is as compelling, gripping and shockingly true in its political and social impact as it ever was. The Tory Minister of the Family, Duncan Matlock - embroiled in a sensitive policy plan to cut Child Benefits - has been caught having an affair, and the last to know is his devoted wife Flora. To her, it is a body blow, not only for her husband's infidelity, but the way in which a swirling sea of Conservative men around her are not only aware of the affair but are only concerned with damage control. They are anxious to buoy her up for the good of the party while inside she is drowning alone. But not for long. One of Duncan's aides considers it vital that the truth be told, and once Flora is acquainted with the truth, she continues to play the hand she has been dealt, whilst secretly playing a game of her own. The sordid truth and the depths of his betrayal emerge hardening her resolve. For the politician's wife, there may be more than one victim - but when the time is right, there will be only one victor.
