Mission to Mos Eisley
While racing to Tatooine on the commuter shuttle, C-3PO recounts an exciting adventure he and R2-D2 had with the Rebels crew: Hera, Kanan, Zeb, Sabine, Ezra and Chopper. C-3P0's search for R2-D2 brings him to the famous Mos Eisley cantina, where he tells the tale of R2-D2's heroics helping Luke, Han, Leia and Chewbacca take on the Empire in the events of A New Hope. C-3P0 spots R2-D2 and his mystery kidnapper leaving with a group of droids purchased from the Jawas. All looks lost, but then the Millennium Falcon lands in front of C-3P0. It's Chewie! C-3PG convinces Chewie to cut short his vacation, and they take off once more in pursuit of R2-D2 and his abductor.
Flight of the Falcon
As the Millennium Falcon streaks through space in search of R2-D2 and his unknown kidnapper, the worried C-3P0 recounts for Chewbacca and his copilot Nien Nunb the harrowing events of The Empire Strikes Back. C-3P0 ends his tale just as he picks up a faint signal from R2-D2 on Geonosis. There, C-3P0 is happily reunited with R2-D2, and the mystery kidnapper is revealed to be...Lando Calrissian! Lando explains that they have stumbled onto Imperial General Veers' plan to use the droids to restart the Geonosis factory from Attack of the Clones and create a new army of battle droids to attack Luke and the Rebels.
Gambit on Geonosis
C-3P0, R2-D2, Lando, Chewbacca and Nien Nunb are imprisoned in the Geonosis battle droid factory as General Veers and his stormtroopers start the machinery and begin to churn out new battle droids. To create a distraction, C-3PO tells the stormtroopers the rousing tale of how he, R2-D2, Lando and the others brought down the Empire in Return of the Jedi. R2-D2 manages to escape and rescue the others with the Millennium Falcon. A battle ensues, and the rebel heroes win the day and return to Endor for a happy reunion with Luke, Leia and Han - and another celebration with the Ewoks.
Deep Space Nine's third series begins eventfully, with Sisko promoted to captain and being gifted a prototype warship equipped with a cloaking device, while Odo learns where he came from. In the two-part opening tale, this clever gambit is played to hook viewers into the idea of DS9 becoming an ongoing mystery/conflict show. Why the sudden intense format tweaking? Mostly this was to ensure the show continued to thrive when a really rather greedy production hierarchy fast-tracked Voyager onto the air mid-season (cue unnecessary crossover episode with Tuvok). Of greater concern was ratings thief Babylon 5, which played its counter-Trek cards at precisely the right time. Fortunately the result (initially at least) was a genuine boost for DS9.
