On 11th September 2001, the world watched in horror as two hijacked American Airlines planes were flown into The Twin Towers, devastating the lives of thousands. But what exactly happened in those 60 minutes leading up to the moment when the first plane hit the World Trade Centre? Last Hour of Flight 11 uses a real-time split-screen format to examine that fateful hour. Experience the pulse-pounding countdown from the moment that the passengers boarded Flight 11 to the split second before the plane hit the Twin Tower. That evening, FBI agents found two black cases belonging to Mohammed Atta that had failed to be put on Flight 11 in time for its departure. Within these cases were videos of pilots' tours, a hand-held flight computer, a Koran and five sheets of Arabic script detailing Atta's plan of action for that day. This programme uses Atta's chilling prescription for death in voice over as the minutes unfold from the perspectives of various key people involved; the terrorists on the aircraft; the hostesses making their telephone calls to the ground and ground control at Logan airport.
On March 27th, 1977 in the beautiful Canary Islands of Spain, the worse disaster in aviation history took place. In an attempt to take off in a thick fog, a 747 collided with another on the runway in Tenerife. The fiery explosion killed 583 people leaving just 70 survivors. By using forensic re-creations and transcripts of the recorded cockpit and control tower conversations, this programme investigates exactly what went wrong. We interview the only surviving pilot, Captain Robert Bragg, and two of the stewardesses working on one of the planes that day as they take us through the events and their experiences. We hear from numerous experts, authors and pilots as we try to unravel the events leading up to the incredible disaster. This type of collision is referred to as a runway incursion and, shockingly, we learn that we are far from protected from another Tenerife taking place again.
For decades Britain led the world in aviation technology, thanks largely to the work of the Royal Aircraft Establishment (RAE) with its headquarters at Farnborough. These rare and often previously unreleased films from the Farnborough Air Sciences Trust film archive capture the pioneering work of the RAE as they expanded the very frontiers of aviation. These films, rescued from imminent destruction, feature the aircraft of the era, and pay tribute to Britain's remarkable aviation heritage.
Comet Accident Investigation
In 1954, Britain's Comet was the world's most advanced airliner, but it was plagued by a series of mysterious and fatal crashes. Escape from Aircraft in Flight
As aircraft flew faster and higher, escaping from them proved ever more difficult. This film looks at early ejector seat experiments and advancing technologies.
Soft Ground Arresting
In order to reduce the risk of serious accident and injury, the RAE developed an innovative new 'soft ground' technology for use at airports, lightning and Canberra test aircraft are seen being brought to a safe and rapid halt after overshooting the runway.

Blade Runner (1982)Blade Runner: The Final Cut / Dangerous Days / Bladerunner
Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) prowls the steel-and-microchip jungle of 21st century Los Angeles. He's a "Blade Runner" stalking genetically made criminal replicants. His assignment: kill them. Their crime: wanting to be human. A visual stunner, remastered for improved home presentation, director Ridley Scott's vision of this sci-fi cinema classic intriguingly differs from what 1982 moviegoers saw. This version omits Deckard's voiceover narration, develops in greater detail the romance between Deckard and Rachael (Sean Young) and removes the "uplifting" finale. Most intriguing of all is a newly included unicorn vision that suggests Deckard may be a humanoid. The result is a heightened emotional impact a great film made greater.
