"Robin Hood" recreates "the chilvalry of England in all its glory" as it unveils the conflicts and betrayals that threaten to destroy the Kingdom of Richard the lion-hear. Fairbanks epitomizes the valiant, loyal knight immortalised in Arthurian legend, gently wooing the virtuous Lady Marian. When King Richard, and a band of warriors embark on a crusade to Palestine, Richard's conniving brother assumes the throne and turns the once-idyllic empire into a Dante-esque sty of corruption. In the darkest hour, however, The Earl of Huntingdon shirks off his noble demeanor and is transfigured into Robin Hood, a hyper-animated avenger who, just a few leaps ahead of his merry men, breathlessly storms the battlements in pursuit of Prince John, the High Sheriff of Nottingham and all who standin the way of justice.
Discover the untold story of the man behind the legend as Robin (Russell Crowe), a heroic warrior, turns outlaw when he assembles a band of skilled marauders to confront injustice and lead an uprising against a weak and corrupt English King. When the rebellious hero falls for the spirited Lady Marion (Cate Blanchett), he must first save her village and then confront a growing storm of threats from near and afar if he is to win her heart. As Robin and his men answer a call to ever-greater adventure, these unlikely heroes set off to battle for their country and return England to glory...and ride into Legend.
Robin of Locksley (Kevin Costner) returns from the Crusades to find his father dead and vows revenge. With his Moorish companion Azeem (Morgan Freeman), he joins a band of peasant rebels to do battle against the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman, Die Hard) and win the hand of the fair Maid Marian (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), cousin of the absent King of England.
Join Robin Hood, his trusted companion Little John and his hilarious band of Merry Men as they outfox greedy Prince John to save the good people of Nottingham. Dashing from one daring deed to the next, Robin won't rest until he wins the hand of Maid Marian and restores King Richard to the throne.
The film begins when a miller, who is poaching deer on lands belonging to the King of England, is detected by a hunting party led by the evil knight Sir Miles Folcanet (Jürgen Prochnow). The miller flees the hunting party until he runs into a Saxon earl, Robert Hode (Patrick Bergin), and his friend, Will. The miller pleads for help as the Normans arrive and threaten to poke the miller's eyes out. Before they can carry out the punishment, Hode (urged by Will) stops them. Folcanet is enraged and demands that Hode be punished by the local Sheriff (shire-reeve), Roger Daguerre (Jeroen Krabb ). Daguerre is Robert's friend and initially orders a light punishment, but Hode feels betrayed, insults Daguerre, and is outlawed as a result. He flees into Sherwood Forest, meets John Little and the usual cast of Merry Men, and under the name 'Robin Hood' takes up arms and fights against the Norman nobility. Robin also falls for Daguerre's niece, Mariane (Uma Thurman), who is promised to Folcanet, and the climax of the film is an attack on Nottingham Castle to stop the wedding.
Filled with thrilling battle sequences, mind-blowing fight choreography, and epic adventure, Robin Hood is an action-packed retelling of the classic legend. Returning home from the Crusades, Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) finds his country oppressed by the evil Sheriff of Nottingham (Ben Mendelsohn). With the help of Moorish warrior Little John (Jamie Foxx), Robin transforms into the heroic outlaw Robin Hoc taking up arms to fight the sheriff and win the heart of his love, Mai Marian (Eve Hewson).
