The Illusionist is a well acted and engrossing drama with many a twist and turn. Edward Norton and Jessica Biel take the main roles but it is the performance of Paul Giamatti as Inspector Uhl which really sticks in the mind
Poorly acted and a desperately thin mediocre plot. There is the odd decent song to enjoy but unless you are a rabid fan of American razzmatazz there's precious little to recommend
Set against the backdrop of Thatcher's heartless and vindictive destruction of the mining industry, Dark Horse relates the story of a horse who gives spirit to a close knit Welsh community. As JT comments, the style does smack of a TV documentary and will therefore probably only appeal to fans of the horse racing community but at least the storyline is presented realistically as there's no dream ending to the career of Dream, who appears as feisty and independently minded as Jan, apart from grazing in the fields
An intriguing and engrossing film with more twists than a Hitchcock thriller with excellent performances of truly believable characters
