The director, Carla Simon, has put in the groundwork for this film and it shows. She spent 6 months on her Uncle's peach farm and just as long with her non-professional cast. The result is a steady, beautiful, thought provoking film about the advances of capitalism on farming, in particular one family's realtionship to the land and each other. The performances from this non professional, unrelated cast are truly amazing. Carla Simon is certainly a talent to look out for.
A group of friends get together on the night a comet comes close to earth. It's gravitational pull results in a fight for survival against alternative versions of themselves. If you like to ponder on the nature of quantum mechanics then this film is for you. However, if you like special effects laden sci fi, look elsewhere.
What starts out as a brooding psychological thriller ends up as a homage to Dario Argento. A modern take on an 80s horror/thriller stable with soundtrack to match.
With only 14 scenes, 10 of which are static, this film may prove too slow for many. However, If you can overcome the film's slow pace you will be rewarded with great natural performances and a cautionary tale of religious doctrine on an impressionable mind.
Sarah Lancashire is an absolute powerhouse in one of the best BBC dramas in years. The supporting cast are also superb, if only let down slightly by Steve Pemberton. The series loses some of its momentum in the fifth episode but believe me when drama is this tightly wound you may need a breather at some point.
This film provides nothing new to the hand held horror genre. The acting is passable in parts but it fails to provide even one scare.
You've seen this all before. Stupid adults searching for local folk lore, get lost, get killed. Nothing new or of interest.
