If you're into shoot'em up car chases, or you're 12 years old, this is the one for you. On the other hand, if you've got at least half a brain cell. don't waste your time with it.
I could only watch the first 30 minutes, so that's this isn't a reliable review. The opening scenes were great, but it was down hill after that. The streets looked like a stage set and the people were straight out of central casting: perhaps that was intentional. It didn't engage me at all. I note that The Guardian loved it, so I should known it was likely to be a turkey.
This is a first-class film that stands out head and shoulders above the deluge of formulaic trash we have had to endure over the last few years. Brilliant in every department, it must surely become a classic over time. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Well, this film stands out amongst the current post-covid crop of dross and CGI rubbish. This could turn out to be a classic given time. A well-observed drama bordering on the blackest of humour. It's about dementia and old school v new school social attitudes, without the usual woke nonsense. Well, worth a look.
This film stands out somewhat from the rest of 2021's dire crop of releases. Yes, it's somewhat predictable and clichéd, but if viewed as a black comedy, then it pulls its weight. Thankfully, the CGI doesn't intrude, but there is plenty of gore. Giving it 4 stars (but in the context of 2021's crop of Covid torpefied Hollywood output).
This is just the film for you if you're into gratuitous crudity, non-stop CGI, and a formulaic 'plot', plus, you have an IQ of 40. Alternatively, iIf you have at least average intelligence, give it a swerve. It's not even funny/bad.
This is an outstandingly tedious film. There are some films that are so bad that we should demand payment to watch them. This is a prime example of that genre. A pointless and derivative waste of time of a film. The lead actor spends their time shouting 'mum'. That's it. Don't waste your time. Trust me: it's nonsense.
A great 'old school' film that keeps you watching from beginning to end. Well made, well directed, with a very talented cast. More of this standard please!
This film treads a difficult line between black comedy and enduring mental illness. Not the easiest trick to pull off, but it does it in a way that is both engaging and thoughtful. A great piece of work that stands out in the current sea of dross and ought to be seen by a larger audience than it will probably achieve. One for those who like the Mike Leigh genre.
This is like something your teenage mate might put together after borrowing their dad's video camera. Could only stand it for ten minutes so there might have been some redeeming features, but I doubt it. Presumably, the director's friends and relatives told him it was fantastic. Well, it's not...
Utterly unengaging. Maybe it has some kind of resonance in the states. Don't bother wasting your time.
