This film was slated by the (wokey) guardian so I knew it had to be fairly watchable and I was right.
Bulletproof is one of those fairly watchable cop films. It features 2 police officers on patrol and features plenty of stereotypes like pumps, drug dealers and people generally being shifty.
Will this film win awards for being a classic? most likely not but is it film promoting white machoism? Not really it's just a passable film that goes along at a decent pace.
This is a well acted and engaging film. The storyline is both moving and powerful. The acting from all is great and it's a film that makes you think after.
It's taken me a while to watch this but I'm glad I did. This is an engaging true story that shows how someone can carry on through the loss and highs. The strength of Louis from his success at the Olympics to being a prisoner of war and the courage to battle his demons is very powerful. Highly recommend.
This carry on the story of the life of Louis from the Unbroken film and focuses on his life after being a POW. Sadly this felt rather flat and the cheap filming and bland acting made this feel like a real channel 5 tv movie.
Shame as theres some interesting parts of the story but the main actor struggles to replace Jack O Connell.
I wasnt expecting this to be a classic horror movie but hoped it would be more like belko experiment/purge style.
It starts with the unpredictable who will be the lead character and then sort of ambles along with a fairly bland lead and some forced political ramble mocking both sides (good to see) but it doesnt really add much to the film as a whole.
Seems this film doesnt know who its audience is and it shows. Its not the worst film ever, but it was still a bit of a let down in my opinion.
Much like his earlier film Knocked Up this is a film that focuses solely on a likeable loser who grows as the film goes on. Pete Davidson plays it straight and does a decent turn. Theres no standout character but instead a strong dependable support cast. Bill Burr is great playing himself and Bel Powley is enjoyable as the on/off girlfriend. Worth giving this a go if you enjoy Judd Apatows other films.
It's always hard to review things based on true events but I felt like this was cheaply made and followed a very simple and slightly cliche route for a police drama. The acting is ok but it never seems to click or engage. I felt very little for the police characters. Shame
This was a fairly watchable film. It's a tad cheesy and predictable but remained quite watchable but the end was just a bit of a mess and then it just ended. I think 2 stars is fair.
I missed this when it was originally on TV. Watched it all in one installment. It's quite watchable and kept me involved but couldn't help wondering if it would of played out better as a full on drama. For me the dark humour bits didnt always work and some of the support cast were a bit underused.
Overall it was worth a watch.
This was a really stunning documentary looking at the lives of these brave men. The move into colour enhances everything. I made not revisit this but I would recommend everyone to watch this at least once.
This film was a tad predictable and it never felt like it was aiming to be anything. Some films pitch themselves as Oscar bait, but this film doesn't have a strong enough script or enough emotional investment to make it worth while. However full marks to Sienna who gives it everything and is a stand out in an otherwise disappointing film.
This is one the better films I've seen this year. The film is both raw and hard hitting. The 2 leads are great and believable. The film works best as a drama with some gang violence thrown in. By the end you really can see the rift between the 2 friends. Highly recommended.
This film follows 3 disabled guys looking to get away from their parents and get special treatment from a brothel that caters for their needs.
So that's the basic premise but it avoids any crudeness and instead focuses on the relationship between the characters and their driver.
It has some quirky light laughs early on and then goes a bit more serious later on.
It's a decent film that goes along at a nice pace but I think it could of done with a bit more development of the characters. By the end scene it didnt quite make the impact they were aiming for.
I tried to get into this film but it felt a bit all over the place. If it stuck to being an outright drama I may of enjoyed it more but it kept going down the arthouse and quirky route too often.
Others may enjoy but for me personally I would give this one a miss.
This is a fairly interesting film that held my attention throughout. Acting is solid and the story is engaging. It's worth adding to your list.
