Well acted and sensitively portrayed story of a family's attitude to the unmarried sister/daughter and their expectations of her. Although she is obviously a capable business woman running her own team of workers this seems to be less important than marriage in their eyes. This is set in Iran but would certainly still apply to many other parts of the world. interesting glimpse in to life in Iran too.
Enjoyed this quiet, thoughtful film very much. the story of of a woman's fight to save her farm from the local collective. very moving.
unusual viewpoint but all the better for making a point. dogs are the stars of course but filmed with compassion and humour.
Follows different characters in their search for love and happiness. Gentle, charming and interesting insight into Tehran society. I agree with ML in that one of the pleasures of this film is that it is different from the usual Hollywood/Western portrayal of this type of quest.
Having read the book it was difficult to imagine how this could be filmed whilst preserving both the horror and the black humour of this true story. Although having to leave out quite a bit of the history it managed to keep the essentials: to tell the shocking experiences of these women during the fall of Berlin to the Red Army but to end on an uplifting note.
Loved this gentle and heartwarming film which nonetheless tackled problems of broken families, relationships and trying to maintain family and traditional values in the modern world.
