I do disagree with the previous reviews for this film, it has an interesting premise and Charlize Theron is as watchable as ever. I know some people didn't like the ending but I thought it made sense and brought everything together.
Good to see that Hollywood can stil make decent comedies after recent attempts by the likes of Amy Schumer have bee n very disappointing. It has several genuinely hilarious set pieces and likeable performances, it may not be original but it has plenty of laughs.
Though it won't win over any new converts, fans will be happy that it continues where previous serious's left off. Larry David is as good as always, as the situations get worse so the laughs get louder.
I understand that this is a children's film but I am sure they would be as bored as I was watching this mess of a film. The special effects are loud but manage to be uninteresting at the same time and the storyline meanders at best. Normally good actors appear to think they are in panto with performances that are just plain annoying. Avoid!
After Trainwreck I though Amy Schumer was going to add something different and edgy to film comedy but after Snatched and this I don't think so. It's generic, pointless and says nothing about body image of any note.
I thought the acting was wonderful in this film, both actresses showing what can be done with interesting material but unfortunately it is just not funny anough. It tries too hard to be quirky and lost my interest as a result. There is a film called Edge of Seventeen which received less plaudits but is a much better film.
I really like Takashi Mike films, they are normally highly original and offer something different. This was okay but so generic, only offering glimpses of what he can offer in some of the fight sequences at the end.
This is what binge watching is for, a superb and disturbing tale of murder and abuse that builds to a superb climax. The acting, writing and directing are superb, it may be a bit wordy in places but see it through to the end.
Taking a very simple premise, alien creatures hunt by sound so you have to stay quiet, the filmmakers have produced a truly tense movie experience. It helps that the family are very likeable and the acting excellent. There may be some slight plot holes but that does not effect the enjoyability factor. Highly recommended.
It's good that films like this can be made but I cannot think of a reason why it was made. Just watch Dave Allen sketches involving the church for much more laughs!
This may not be as satirical as it wants to be but it does have something to say about celebrity and the dangers of placing your life on the internet for everyone to see. Aubrey Plaza is great as the title character and shows that her great turn in Legion is no one off.
I have to say I knew nothing of the title character and his place amongst the civil rights battle and I am sure there is a better film out there. Chadwick Boseman and Josh Bad are great, its just avshame that the film did not serve them better. It ends up like a cross between To Kill A Mockingbird and Perry Mason, luckily the star power on screen saves it.
This film is beautiful to look at, especially the old lady title character, and has heart to match it. For most animation studios that would be enough but it lacks the comedic moments Pixar is normally so good at. Films like Up and Inside Out had emotional moments but also had laugh out loud moments, something this lacks a little bit.
Aardman films are always worth a look and clearly lovingly made, this is no different. It takes a while to get going but once it does it have the usual mix of clever gags and slapstick.
I really enjoyed the book but this is a terrible adaption, it is muddled and appears to forget the main story. Hard to imagine Michael Fassbender appearing in a worst film this year, sorry forgot about Assassins Creed!
