I realised quiet early on that this was going to be long-winded, but I persevered. Two and a half hours later I was pleading for release. (You've got to stay to the end, right?) Constant and repetitious complaints and rants - oh, the misery of the female characters! - turn what could have been a quaint 90-minute observation of family and cultural life into an ordeal. Of course, it won awards. That's the way the French do these things.
