This is only the 2nd film that I have felt strongly enough about to give an honest but negative review. They really should not have made this film, no really.
And Cinema Paradiso possibly should not have it in their library for renting, maybe if all the reviews were available on the website, all the 62 reviews, then maybe we would have more information to base our rental choice on, as it is there is only 1 review available, how does that work?
Some customers may like to give emerging talent an opportunity to progress their skills within the film world but at least give us relevant info. on the film & let us decide if we want to.
Of our family 3 people began watching this film, 1 left half way through, the remaining 2 decided to fast forward it to relevant scenes, not many, & thank goodness this action brought the ending very swiftly. Bottom line, this was the 2nd worse film that I have rented, ever!
Good individual performances from the main characters but there’s always a weak link, someone not fully onboard & of course the greedy one. We enjoyed the twists & turns but felt there could have been more time spent exploring, showing what the characters got up to when they went through the mirror. I am still trying to working out who the woman was at the very beginning & what she was up to? I’ll get it soon. Worth renting.
We found it a bit slow & at times quite boring. If you are already a fan of the series then I can understand this might give you closure, tie up loose ends as it were but we had not seen any Breaking Bad episodes & sort of assumed this was a stand alone story, film. Not really, it's a continuation of the series & as such we were, at times, a little lost.
Not for us hence the 2 star'.
Clever, entertaining & quite well thought out.
Everyone has an opinion & is entitled to it & I understand this offering is not going to be for all but don't diss it as rubbish when it so obviously is not. My family thoroughly enjoyed the humour, twists & turns & general acting on show. I can only say we rate it fairly highly, as others have, give it a go, you might be surprised.
Superb. The sort of film made for Liam Neeson. Very well written, directed & acted. This has gone down as a favourite & it will be watched again for sure. Maybe not for everyone but we found it very entertaining & worth highlighting for others to be aware of & to consider it for a viewing.
We were trapped like so many in that well known situation where once you have begun watching a film you have to see how it ends!
Why do we do this?
We would, could never recommend this film to anyone, it was so slow I swear we had visibly aged by the end with rust spots in various places.
We are still asking “what was the point” of this film.
Nobody knows what the film they hire is really like, we all accept that but we hope that following reading the synopsis, maybe watching the trailer & checking out what actors are in the film we can usually make an informed decision about whether or not the film will turn out to be, at least, average on the enjoyment scale or hopefully higher.
Submergence, in our opinion, was an utter & complete waste of time for all concerned, it will rate as one of the most disappointing films we have seen, we truly wish someone, somewhere had given us a heads up.
