Not sure why I rented this, black and white weird ratio, probably going to be crap I thought. 5 minutes in, it's a bit slow and I can't see myself getting past the 30 minute mark. But actually I got drawn in. The acting and characters are both compelling and ridiculous. The descent into madness over the top and yet fascinating. The weird mermaids and vicious seagulls and Ahab silioquies laughable and intriging in equal measure. I thoroughly enjoyed it, in all its weirdness. I'm sure the symbolism went largely over my head, but I got the Prometheus reference at the end so I'll take a win on that. It won't be for everyone but I quite liked it
Family get caught in bad situation, but luckily they are experts at fighting, or shooting or can use a bow, phew that's lucky. The film is entertaining enough, but really can no one in Hollywood write a story any more? You've probably seen the same film 100 time already, and there's nothing new to see here. it'll no doubt be on netflix next to the other 10 films with the same plot in a few months. Worth watching if you really cant find anything better.
I read some online reviews on this film before renting, they all said this film was better than the original Angelina Jolie movies. I'm afraid I must disagree, at least the Angelina Jolie movies were fun. This is predictable and a bit dull. The characters have no depth or humour the action scenes are nothing new and the story is.. well almost non existant. I recommend watching the originals, or as another reviewer said Jumaji 2. ( Jumaji 1 is even better though)
Entertaining enough Druid and sword fest. Not a patch on Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings of course but not bad for a Sky production. Not to be taken as in any way historically accurate, The Romans and Britons constantly try to Parle, which of course comes from the french, and was used in a military sense about 18th Century and really sticks out in a series set in AD 43! The druids didn't do weird sacrifices around stone henge, in fact the whole things is full of historical nonsense and the story is a bit silly, but the acting is mostly good and the special effects are ok for a tv series. There are much better things on telly, but as historical series go, its not bad. I do wonder why bother making a historically set series and then not actually researching any of the history though. It might as well be set in Westeros for all its factual content.
I watched about 20 minutes of this before I was so annoyed I looked on line for reviews. It gets a panning, so I didn't even bother watching the rest. It's just people in uniforms shouting at each other. That's not a very in depth review, but it's not a very in depth film. Why would anyone even make a film like this, it's not historically accurate or remotely entertaining, surely a historical drama needs to be at least one of those. There must be other films people are trying to get funded that would have warranted the money wasted on this.
I really enjoyed this, gripping with plot twists I didnt see coming. Jessica Chastain was excellent. Lobbying isnt the most interesting subject, but this was entertaining through out.
