Not strictly an Xmas film, just girl works in an Xmas shop in Covent Garden. Sister lives in a 2 mill house and poor parents in a 1 mill semi. Basic London setting for normal film.
Ladies film for sure. Not quite as wispy as a Hugh and Renee offering, but lead lady moves it along with her dynamics. Emma's agent slots her in for a well paid cameo...........
Dick Van Dyke's cockney accent attempt now totally trumped by Downey, inexplicably Welsh. In fact sometimes unintelligible Welsh accent. Almost like a dubbed film. Did he do it properly, and then some Rhys Ifans fan decided to over dub ?
Kids will love all the PC graphics with the animals. Agents will love their clients earning loads for a bit of dialogue.......Emma.....Again........bit like Cats, ideal opportunity to spread the money amongst unknown talent, but plum jobs landed by the same suspects...........
Fair bit of death and violence in the name of black comedy. Similar to lots of other films, but the gauche leading man is a bit different. Is like Get Smart with blood.
Is pretty good. Is Ritchie. Is London gangsters etc. Could really have been better....and saved millions.....by not having Grant and McCon in it. Remember back, not then well known guys, all brilliant.....Daniel Craig, Mark Strong, Jason Statham etc etc. Natural character fit. Film full of cameo folk given a break. No need for the megga money boys. Surely Guy can raise backers without resorting to big names?
The two stars get way too much of the film which takes some of the ambience away.
Have to give it 4 though, as way better than most of the tat out there............was really hoping for the Rock n Rolla sequel that never came............
Is what it is. Very quick bounced out sequel. Good romp about with maybe too many characters? De Vito enoys himself. Dwayne is not sure who he is, shame not rig a film with Arnie....perhaps Triplets.....with De Vito.....that be a re-make!
Actually quite entertaining film. Can watch it with the kids without getting bored. Clever characters. Bit more PC slick than the early Wrong Trousers etc, but gets away with it, as retains some of the imagination from those ground breakers.
Typical sequel one would expect. Songs not as memorable of course. Characters a bit faded, but kids will still love it.
Had to be a four, as so much junk about, if someone makes a decent effort it should be acknowledged. Bale of course went to States from UK when 17 with his dad, hence he can pull off the Ken Miles Sutton Coldfield accent fairly well. Damon looking a bit plump now methinks. He does not have a very special part here.
Tells the story quite well. Was a race of attrition. Shame they could not get more of the atmosphere into it, just centering around the guys. The Marcos was almost the star for the crowd, yet no mention, or little cameo for it. There were other interesting cars involved, although Ford and Ferrari did swamp the entries. Most all their cars went pop! Porsche did way better on reliability.
Having been overtaken, in the day, doing 135 in a Jag up the M1 (police driver at wheel) by a GT40 testing at easy 180+, can concur they were very quick.
Foodies.......Chef, with Downey is better. Hundred Foot Journey is great. All about Harry with Gleason, is also way better. However it rolls along quite lightly and is OK. Bradley fans will enjoy. Emma totally wasted.....and to be fair so are all the others, lol.
Like Bridges. Like oddball, with characters, so rates as one of my favourites. Thunderball and Lightfoot and Big Lebowski up there with Bridges good ones.............
Certainly quirky, and only Bridges fans probably like a lot, but is one of my favourite films to watch every so often. Fisher King of course in there, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot etc......
Clint and Bridges at their best. Clint already the older guy looking after the kid.......1974!! Great story line and great fun acting. Bit of everything. Dirty Harry on the other side..............
My wife hates this film. Would sooner watch Paris Texas again than this. I love it. One of my ten films to take to desert island. Palance is just great. The simplicity of the desert and the characters is great. Marianne sails through the film with no apparent effort..........
Must be biggest profit ever in film making. Simple film, simply made, unknown folk, great music, great bikes. One of top ten ever films for the reasons above...............
The first two films capped it basically, but the Hollywood machine sees a money trail.......so here we are on number 6! Arnie gets his pension, and big bonus for the Connor family.
Same basic story line all 6 films really. Makes a change from incessant Marvel offerings. PC graphics rule..........story and dialogue suffers. No imagination in film making it appears.................
Not a bad film to be fair. Worth a watch and Arnie pretty good job, with some good one liners..................
