Shame they never kept tighter to actually what happened, rather than introduce a job for Nick Cage etc. Introducing all sorts of soap drama and dialogue, where actual story is better film content.
He did a Tom Hanks Terminal for one month, as US boiled his passport etc.
As he was employee of the government, with official secrets status, and oath sworn etc, the outcome of releasing confidential data was only ever going to go one way!
Not sure how damaging it was for the then US government...............
Actually not bad as goes along fairly well. At least sat and watched whole film. Never saw Cage as a good actor as always seems very artificial in what he does and says, bit like Mel Gibson, but is watchable film with some core story........
If it were not for JT doing his thing would make it a 2. Plot twists quite well at end, and does hold on for the duration. The F word is, as always, predominant throughout. Violence and blood shed obligatory, although again, as usual, not really necessary. Threat and persona can be far more realistic........
Some childrens films have more thought given to them than so called adults. Lots of moral values inter twined, which is no bad thing. Fair bit of novel thinking gone into it. Kids love it, yet is intelligent enough for parents to watch along as well.
Maybe a bit stylised? Not sure Sully was given such a grilling as they make out. Makes the aero authorities look like idiots, with a personal vendetta against Sully.
Any event such as the downing of 155 folks on a plane would be taken very seriously by the aero industry, as would a policeman firing a gun, or crashing a car into somebody.......well in England anyway..........
Film industry always portrays highly professional people as a bit wobbly, if not unstable. Talk to a pilot, or a member of the SAS etc. They are calm and controlled under pressure, that is a natural selected talent, plus rigorous training and application.
They have to create a film from a few minutes frantic flying. They managed to eke it out. Tom does well....not as well as Captain Phillips..........but quite a few Hollywood flights of licence to try and make it epic.........no pun intended...................
Pena can be quite funny, in a Mexican/Cuban/fast-talking way, and does bring a touch of lightness into a tale of two cops who are more violent than the opposition.
Hopefully, in real life, America is not quite as bad as this?
Bish bosh bash, and will be enjoyed if into the guns and beheading thing............
Not sure if would say is all kids film? Maybe 10/12 onwards to be fair. Is bit too seriously weird in places....Tim Burton.....some of it would freak small ones.
Typical things out of Nightmare Before Xmas etc.
Is well acted and well made, and something a bit quirky, so stands out from a lot of the detritus inflicted on the screen over last few years.
Film industry devoid of unique thought, so has to trawl the myriad of old comic books, some from the 50's. When apparently writers had originality, and imagination.
Not done any H G Wells for a while!
Is quite good of the type. Clever graphics, makes Benedict acting almost a second place event.
Personally sooner see the Imitation Game a second time, but if like the bish bash bosh, is quite colourful.
Novel idea, and flows along pretty well. Worth a watch, and Timberlake does competent job. Solyent Green was a quirky film, in its day.
Have to give this a 5 as not given one for ages. Ben is believable as convert aspergers. Little bit of humour here and there, and violence is not too Peckinpah. Two guns had a mix of humour-with-violence, and not many films can get away with it.
Cage as done some pretty awful films all in all, and this is one of them. He is actually the smarter one in this film, in dress and intellect, but that is almost the only thing to note. Had to fast wind most of the dialogue just to finish the film.
Dialogue is pointless, as are the characters. Hard to work out when film makers put so much money into poor films. Would think they would realise during the making, or even before when read the script.
Mindless violence to other people is not entertaining, except to someone with a major problem..........if watch too many films like this........will obtain the problem....................
What with Isis on the news in Syria, and yet more war movies being made, one get a bit fed up with more guns and violence. Not entertaining, but maybe is a documentation of events? Alas no. Check another write up, with specific details of the many flaws in the actual facts and figures depicted in the film.
One would hope that 9mill would pay for a decent research. Perhaps they just chose to ignore it? American backers maybe preferred their take on events?
Believe first and second World war films have to be something much smarter now, such as Imitation Game..............
Alas some things now happening in Africa and Syria are still very similar to 60 years back........films being made already.........
Good little Brit film. No weak links in chain as all parts played professionally. Flows along pretty tight. Bill is a bit old for Emily, but good luck to him.
Throw backs to when Eric Sykes was a hit man. Some vague character set-ups to Fish Called Wanda perhaps?
All in all is well worth a watch..............
Tom getting to look like the van-driver next door a bit now. Pretty much standard bish bosh. Watered down Mission Imposs. Small ageing guy can flatten everyone that moves, in his dreams at least, pretty well copied format by countless other films.
OK if are a TC fan.
J D always holds the lens quite well, and Morgan usually does pretty good, but let down a bit by the semi Marvel comics aspect. Bit too incredible to be plausible, and nut quirky enough to be clever.
So refreshing to have Paul Bettany trying to make it work as well. Great to actually hear the English language on film again, spoken clearly and with diction. A rare commodity...........
