Wife not so keen, but she hates Bagdad Cafe! Just have to give it 5 as the interaction is great. Not over keen on some US dialogue and acting, but the zany come ordinary-family sort of works in this. Not seen a matching set of US actors do so well together.......that got to be worth a 5..........
The original nasty pair hit the streets. John at his best, and for me, the only decent film Sam made................
Appreciate the violence is a bit thorough throughout the film, but this was the group thing flowing along. Put Pesci Liotta Nero as the ones to beat for the genre............
Often copied. Seldom matched. Young Niro is very disturbed guy who becomes a violent/manic/hero. Only in America!!
Certainly up there with a top Jack sticker. Not far from Cuckoo film. Jack holds the camera. Got the lens magnet in Easyrider, and continues to this day. Just has that latent tension going on..........works even in comedy roles............
Old film now, but Jack nails it. Had some really unique films out around this era. Easyrider onwards in continuous chain. Still has something dynamic on screen, even today...........very naughty Hollywood boy.............lens loves him though.............
This film is at top of so many review lists. Mostly by the public/viewers, not the trade. So well acted and directed and edited, with great story line that makes sense. No weak links. Everyone seemed to know they had to match what was going on...........
Saw this when it was released, in New Orleans. Full version. The whole thing was just continuous involvement. Brilliant acting, photography, and the best soundtrack ever.....all the way through. The mix of family and violence balanced.
Marlon got really huge after this. By the time of Apocalypse, he had to filmed in the shadows! You only need the face and voice at the end of the day! Who could get away with that today? Zero............
Probably put Pacino right up there with the sequel. Only given it a 4 as gave the original a 5.......third one prob should be a 3 then.....but all are really a 5 compared to lot of the rubbish since that has tried to copy..............
Look at some of the rubbish/easy money films Liam has done since. This is what he could have done, if had been more fussy, like Daniel Day, with the rest of his career. Presume has a get-some-in agent who goes for numbers?
Very harrowing in places, but a tour de force. Guy was a playboy, and maybe a lot of his motivation was indeed self indulgence, but what he achieved, under daily scrutiny by the masters of terror is quite amazing. True story. Even more amazing.
Top 10 film ever.................
Old film now. Most people only know Vietnam as a great holls spot, but back then was a mind warp for the USA. Very powerfully made. Deerhunter only other Vietnam film that cracked it, along with the very heavy Killing Fields.
The whole music and photography moved this film into an opera of violence and destruction.
Like the Civil War, Korea, and the Indian Wars/annihilation, this is yet another part of US history they would like to forget ...............
McAvoy handles it all really well. Just changes personality switch by a look. Thank goodness, there is no gratuitous un-necessary sex and violence involved, is just McAvoy being weird.
Good to see some funds coming to UK from US blockbusters. Shame cannot fund films fully in UK anyway, as we have so many desirable/credible actors.
Another jumping about bish bosh film. Is flaky same as the others, but is mindless entertainment enjoyed by most............bit of humour, masses of death and mayhem.....
Bill does his thing. Fairly much to format, but still nicely done and delivered. Watch out for the very worst men in car in front of screen shots! So badly done is worth seeing the film just to see how not to do it.
Love Jean Reno. He must be hard up to do random rubbish like this. Is hard to actually work out where they are supposed to be, let alone what is going on. Lost it for me in first few minutes when girl crashes the skidoo and her helmet falls off! Then the false blood....then the multiple lumps of wood embedded in her.........then the almost ballet action a few days later when nipping down slippery wooden steps on tippy toe.......followed a bit later with half a limp come back........could have done with her in battle of Trafalgar.............
