Takes up an hour or so, and goes along, but is a bit television-type. Another kidnaping come Stockholm syndrome affair........
Long run-up to the last film..........had to stretch to 4 films from 3 as need the money I guess. If liked the first 2 films will enjoy this one. Is well done to be fair, and quite entertaining. HG Wells on steroids...............
Three good actors, and an original stageplay made sound on film. Just enough outside shots to get the Paris feel confirmed.
Scott Thomas is effortless. Maggie is Maggie, and all the better for it. Kevin is pretty fair for someone from over the water. Always motivated. Still going well since Fish Called Wanda, and holds his own with top drawer cast.
Would you believe no livers exploded on set? Nobody Effed and Blinded at 10 sec intervals either. Just goes to show it can be done.
When look at all films coming, vast majority are Saw 28 and Zombie On the Horizon etc. Must be a market i suppose, or not be made...............thankfully don't know anyone that owns up to watching them................
Given it 3 as held attention, but wife worked her out way early on in film............I didn't to be fair.
All done quite well, but similar to others, and not quite up to Oscar standards.
Try Anthony Hopkins in Fracture to see some proper acting. No wonder the US is always grabing the odd brit to give some cred to their films............
Watched this when came out in 1977, then the Down Under when that came out. Surprising thing is the little ones still love it today. Not sure if they still being produced part analogue long-hand fashion then, but the simpler delivery appears not to be a problem with small folk, they get the idea just fine...............
Involving film well acted, and pretty much to events as they happened.
Just seen Rain Man again, and shades of similar characteristics in both the main characters for sure.
Very different individuals are what England excels in. We produce characters of unique abilities throughout history and Turing was one who most people never heard of.
Possibly saved 14million lives by breaking enigma. Invented the computer. Nodody knows his name, because the establishment were probably embarrassed, at that time by his sexuality, and later by the way he was treated. Chemically castrtated, and driven to suicide.
Remember Gareth Williams more recently, of GCHQ, weapons of mass chocolate, died in flat. Ring a bell? Makes you wonder....
Spall again has a character that he can just fall into with ease. If like the period thing done well, this will move to a 4 star for you. Put a 3 as is very good film worth watching, but not great. Madness of King George is more involving.
All the scenes and sets are done ar great expense and detail, but they are all far too clean, as they are on the new Poldark series, bring back In Search Of The Holy Grail.
Most people would have stunk, their clothes, even for the rich, would have been pretty nasty, and most folk would have had half their teeth dropped out or a pattern of yellow and black.........Baldrick was the biz.
Bit kitchen sink America. Appreciate has been 12 years in making, and the continuity with the performers is quite a clever exercise. Over that period would have expected some calamity to befall someone.
Training day guy was very consistent, in fact could have been in the same film. When the downhome Americans get their stash of guns out to play on the lawn, as they seem to do, was half expecting Denzel to appear!
All about yet another disfunctional american fakily, who you really have no worries if they go up, or down. Do they really swear so much in normal family groups?
American film industry do not portray themselves that well.
Fills the time, but wouldn't have been happy to have paid good money in a cinema.
Pretty well done to the book to be fair, and Jeremy always produces a top performance. He maintains the flow all the way through, and the the whole is competent and worth a watch.
Another film by someone well known presumably made to fill a contractual obligation. Would an attractive, dynamic, young lady have anything to do with some old geezer who chats her up at place of work? Whole concept is miss-guided. Didn't bother watching the second half......
