Overdubbed and very hard to hear.
No subtitles.
It shouldn’t pass the acceptable procedure to rent out. Had to give up
No doubt it was good back in the 70’s, but it’s too hammy.
If you like a laugh at the clothes and the cheesey lines as well as the stereotypes then it’s for you. It’s a mix of Columbo, Kojack and Starsky and Hutch.
Hard to take seriously.
I read the book and thought it one of the best I’ve ever read.
It’s a very detailed and long book and did wonder how it would be filmed as it would be hard to convey the story in detail without it being 8 hours long. I think they did a fine job on it.
If you are looking for action and fast pace then it’s not for you. It’s about the tension and turning grief into something positive.
Whilst eliminating some details from the book, I felt the performances were excellent and it showed the brutality and hopelessness people lived under the Nazis in Germany.
It is a slow film, but it has to be, it’s not a feel good piece, but the book isn’t either. It’s full of sadness and hopelessness, but this brings with it a future, which is the whole point of the book and movie.
Iwoukd watch it again as well as reading the book.
Recommended.
Posh fun in post war Britain. Ludicrous story which adds to the nonsense.
Harmless nonsense from posh people.
A superb account of the atrocities inflicted on the Chinese by Japanese aggressors. It has to be seen to be believed.
Fascinating account.
He should have made this 15 years ago. We all know the gags . It’s clever but predictable if not a bit over the top.
British comedies never really work well as movies. It’s still worth a watch.
What a dull documentary. Very little information about the reason for the battle and references to how movies re-enactments the story. Interspersed with people dressing up as the original battle, just like those dreadful American museums that should be avoided. Cheap and rubbish.
Superb story of the making of this legendary album.
Everything a Floyd fan would love and any music fan that should see the history of the greats.
