Production problems and poor critical response caused this picture to make a loss at release. Since the film was made there have been arguments about its historical accuracy, and especially about the extreme depictions of captain William Bligh as monstrous sadist and Fletcher Christian as man of honour. But allowing for that there's plenty to entertain here, with amusing performances from Brando and Howard. DVD extras include a description of how the replica ship was built for the film.
