If you like watching ghastly precocious all-American teenagers this may be for you. Otherwise avoid, like we did after 10 minutes.
As usual from David Attenborurgh brilliant photography and a just right interesting commentry. Ony criticism, why can't this be 4K and HDR?
We stuck with this for 20 minutes, then went outside to watch the grass grow which was much more entertaining. Why anybody would make such a useless film is a mystery. In 20 minutes there was zero dialogue and the little movement was slow and pointless. Avoid.
This was very much worth watching for the impressions of life in devastated Hamburg immediately post war. This was very well done, and I have no idea how all the devastation was created on the sets. One thing I did notice was how useless and self centred the star and her friends were. Her husband was dealing with mass riots, with killers aroung, and people were trying to take his life. She was complaining about the style of the house! However I'm sure this was not the impression I was supposed to take away from the film.
I think only the USA could produce a film so wet, sloppy and sentimental as this.
The only people I can imagine liking this are Infant school age children, and the very old who have become extremely sentimental. Or maybe perhaps somebody who has been infantilised by too much bad television.
I got his film largely because I like Tom Hanks, but the character he played was so wet, sloppy and condesending with a silly little voice, that after half an hour I would have liked to have seen him stuffed and mounted! The "plot" was totally simplistic and predictable.
I rented this because I expected to see a bio of Berlusconi, with a bit of satire.
What we got however is an awful 1960s style softcore porn (tit and bum) film. The dialogue was banal in the extreme and there was no storyline to speak of. If there was any humour neither of us noticed it. After half an hour my wife turned to me and said "This film is complete cr*p". I agreed so we watched something else.
If you like softcore porn and dont know how to access the internet this film is for you, otherwise avoid!
This was the most boring film I can remember seeing. There was almost no dialogue, and what there was mumbled and semi-incomprehensible. Sound and visual quality was poor. Little happened throughout. Difficult to understand why anyone would wast their time and (presumably somebody else's) money making such a film. Too little there to review further.
This was a superb evocation of life in the slums of Beirut. Acting was very convincing which made the film gripping. For a period, although the film was always interesting, it was unclear that where (if anywhere) the whole thing was going. However in the end it all came together brilliantly, making a powerful observation.
Against my better judgement w watched this film due to the "stellar ensemble" and good reviews. Bid mistake. The film is yet another trashy dumbed down American film which manages to find almost any excuse for pointless violence. I would think that to enjoy this sort of stuff you must either be totally immune to sceens of violence, or get off on it. The film also managed to be extremely boring. We had had enough after about an hour.
I was amazed at how awful this was. Much of the script seemed to have been translated into American teenage dumbed down cliches. We had a "really amazing" and astonishingly an "enjoy the rest of your day". Was fully expecting "I was like", "kicking butt", and "have a nice day" with a bit of whooping thrown in for good measure! It was as if the actors had been recruited from a call centre.
For a Russian period drama Saoirse Ronan looks ridiculous with black eyebrows and red hair. A great play totally destroyed US style.
