Brilliant interpretation of the book of the same name by Ronald Blythe. Amateur local residents ( including Ronald Blythe ) give a lovely gentle performance that gives a moving interpretation of just how hard life was for farm labourers .
Deserves a wider audience
I am a fan of Barry Humphries . In fact I would almost say he is a hero of mine which makes it all the more disappointing that he should make such an awful film.
There are very few funny parts . It does have a plot of sorts but mostly so contrived as to make the film ridiculous.
I am sure he could do better than this but appears to be just resting on his laurels.
