This film left me feeling pretty annoyed and wondering what the actual point of the movie was. The first 2/3 of the film seemed to have no storyline whatsoever and was just the director putting together lots of shots and angles of the male torso and genitals. It wasn’t until the final third of the film that a somewhat simply and obvious story started to take hold but just as it was working towards a possible crescendo, the film had a sudden finish. It left me underwhelmed as the film could have been structured much better to spend more time on the developing story a lot sooner and to give a better and proper ending. Disappointing!!
These ‘Boys on Film’ short film series are very hit and miss and on most occasions have a hit and miss selection in each offering. Apart from the first two short films in this series, this series is poor overall.
I’m not a big fan of superhero movies, which is why I rather enjoyed this movie. It had its tongue firmly in its cheek with juvinile humour throughout but it wasn’t short of great action scenes also. A refreshing change and a great mix up of superhero and comedy to make something quite appealing. Fun to watch without being incredible. It does what it says on the tin!
Three individuals who become friends but who each have their own story to tell. Their individual stories play out in parallel with the story of their friendship but climax in twist that leaves you hold your head in disbelief. A great watch!
This is a very watchable coming-of-age movie with great acting and a few intertwining stories that bring each character to life and gives the film a few layers.
Most coming-of-age films mainly focus on one specific area (sexual awakening, problems at home, strained friendships, etc). However, this covers all of those elements at the same time and balances them really well to deliver a very believable and engaging film.
I liked this, a lot!
Oh wow, what a film this is!!
Stunning cinematography and a deeply moving true story. Both actors who played the young and old Sarro (Sunny Pawar and Dev Patel) put in sensational performances with Sunny in particular for such a young actor. This film really leaves its mark on you and the footage and words at the end are amazing. A must watch!!
What an excellent, twisted thriller. It keeps you gripped throughout and trying to resolve what’s going on. I won’t say anymore, as it would spoil the movie. Just watch it!!
This is a lengthy but well filmed story of the horrors of war and the testing of human morals. It has all the action and scenes associated with most war films but has an overriding story of human faith and morals being challenged throughout and playing out in parallel with the atrocities of war. The voice over highlights this with such well chosen and emotive words. For the very few that come out the other side, it gives a renewed strength and appreciation of life but for so many war takes their lives in some shape or form. For the fortunate they die in battle. However, those who do survive are in the main left numb and stripped of their faith and souls.
This isn’t a spectacular film and it’s not an all action film, if that’s what you’re after. However, what it is, is a film that questions all of our morals and appreciation of life and death.
Wow, wow, wow. I loved this film.
Fantastically filmed and put together to create a masterpiece that truly immersed you into the depths of each character and the unfolding storyline. It’s was so much more than just a coming of age film, as it was about family, childhood, love, heartbreak, anger and cleverly fitted a whole families life and tribulations into a movie that was just under two hours. The film switching back and forth from present to past allowed the film to give depth to each character and the overriding storyline with such realistic emotions.
The acting was superb and had me feeling an array of emotions while watching it. This is a must watch!!!
The original was genuinely scary, even if you weren’t scared of clowns. However, this remake is awful and more funny than scary. The young actors are good but that’s it for the positives. Dreadful!!
This film can only be described as ‘Hostel’ meets ‘Harry Potter’. A very strange film with great atmospherics and it keeps you interested enough to want to know what’s going on but ultimately it’s all a bit of a letdown. Was left feeling I’d wasted just over two hours of my life on something that could have been much shorter in length. Not my favourite genre/type of film, so others may find it more appealing.
Four Moons is a very well put together film that flicks back and forth between four different homesexual stories, all with their own tale that cuts across a number of ages and varying emotions (curiosity, desperation, hurt, love, etc). All four stories work well and are delivered in a way that you feel the emotions of the characters in each one.
A different take on the usual LGBT movie and it works very well.
A superb music documentary that really leaves you buzzing if you’re an Oasis fan, like me. Gives a great insight into the band and the relationships of band members, especially the infamous and explosive relationship between the Gallagher brothers.
Brilliant footage, interviews and unseen clips.
A real treat about one of the greatest ever bands!
Based on a true story during the time of the apartheid, this film shows the worst and best sides of humanity to remind us all that whatever our skin colour or origin, we’re all human.
It’s well filmed with scenes that are both touching and upsetting. Hitting home a dark period in history where racism was rife and reminding us that sadly racism still unbelievably exists in the world today.
We all need to accept and love each other, as we are one and the same.
Never give up the fight against racism!
A film that portraits the world of immigration and their employment in a society that at times uses them for their own gain. The initial heartfelt actions and determination of the main character and the storyline are quickly overtaken by risk, greed, selfishness and the exploitation of those on the brink of desperation. Don’t think for one minute that this isn’t happening in the real world, right under our noses and this film highlights this without being spectacular but good enough to watch. Would have given 2.5 out of 5 if possible.
