I totally agree with the review from BM. Embarrasingly poor DVD. I hope this will save you from - presumably as a fan - from having to watch your favourite pair undoing all their past brilliance.
Thought I would watch it again after a distant memory of the series. I hadn't realised how long it had run for.
Really enjoyed it. Good, clever, with uncomplicated laughs . Have ordered the next series.
'Mr Brittas' is on screen nearly the whole time and is a star turn
Essential viewing to see all the early strands and connections of later films and writing.
Particularly for George Orwells 1984
I would watch again.
Obviously the silent acting is over the top in todays values but if you can accept that, then enjoy the restored version.
I agree with the Review by Karrie, that the commentary was a bit confusing.
We watched it twice, once with and once without.
Somehow missed seeing it in previous years.
A good film of its time and tackled uncomfortable truths but it seemed a bit dated in its acting and I was not as engaged as I had expected.
An evocation of an era, so entertaining on the level of remembrance.
Goes well with the book. Kate Winslett great as usual.
Younger viewers may be a bit mystified about what the main character was all about.
A Brilliant film. I am a long time viewer of Japanese films.
Totally absorbing in its view of a part of Japanese society and the sequences are totally unexpected.
I would watch again.
If you are a racing enthusiast, it probably would not tell you anything you do not already know.
I thought that the script and film clips were poor.
I learnt nothing about the man.
It had quite good reviews when it came out.
I am baffled.
I agree with everything that the review by PV said.
All well done but an out of proportion response with the Baftas and Oscars. Nothing bad about it, just overhyped. I sometimes go back to a film more than once, this one I certainly would not consider a re look.
The category 'really liked it' doesn't fit the experience. Awful but very good and stays in the memory, Excellent acting, particularly from 'Kevin'
