Movie tracks an academics decline in mental cognatative function as a result of Early onset Altzheimers disease. I found this film intresting as it also shows how visual recognition is linked to memory and how devastating a loss Altzheimers is in day to day.
I would recommend those with an open mind and don't mind a few tears with their movie viewing.
Ok this is a very slow burner and at one or wo points I could have given up, but I'm glad I watched it through. Violent in a very measured precise way.
Ok this is not me type of film… adults behaving like immature teenages usually not my idea of comedy… so I was forced to watch it by my beloved partner… well I tried not to laugh ??, but I couldn't help myself… very funny ?? in a very stupid take out your brain and give it the evening off type of way.
Very impressed by 12 Monkeys… time travel paradox seems to be all the rage at the moment… great movies like Predestination…
They have managed to create a complex, engaging and totally believable concept and for that alone I would whole heartedly recommend 12 Monkeys to any scifi fan or simply scifi curious.
As with any scifi or movie if you don't care about the protagonists then they have failed to tell the story… once the first episode is over your emotionally caught up in the story, the characters and some actors who actually believe in what they are doing… great job must watch scifi
Yeah I was expecting something new and original but seems familiar tale dressed in new clothes… a word of not an excessive use of the f**k word throughout the film by lead character and loutish behaviour… Beauty and the Beast is the basic premise. Effects are convincing but 2 stars because it does not live up to its own claims… sorry ??
This is a very cleverly written piece of scifi… its a difficult film yo review as it would be so easy to spoil the gradual reveal… suffice to say the phrase 'Want came first the chicken or the egg ' as utterred by the barman proves to be prophetic.
Just be warned its a slow burner… but well worth the wait. If
Original ideas in scifi few and far between... this is a film that rewards your patience a very clever film that drips feeds to the dramatic finale. Can't tell you more as it would spoil the journey.
Still burnt intoy memory a week later.
Ok hands up you got me... I fell asleep 2hrs into this film... not because it was not engaging I'd had a busy day at work and this is a very long movie to comic to if your tired
My partner loved it and savoured every last morsel... despite it Turkish language and earthy feel it is a very human story... which asks many questions on many levels about the human situation. Impressive but you need to be fully alert to savour the morsels on offer.
Whilst it is no secret the the film is based on the book by Jane Hawkins... and it carries an emotional tone throughout the film as a result of her own story and the dedication of the actors who play their roles splendidly.
There is a but.... This feels like snap shots... the sense of journey and ironically time is eluded to but not really realised...
whilst I thoroughly enjoyed the film and the acting was superb I feel... to me anyway... a bit like the King's Speech great acting but missing the heart of the story.
so why four stars? Because, there are brief moments when I felt overwhelmed with sadness and loss and for that emotion... which was conveyed in such a sincere way that's why I gave it 4 stars.
Okay every box gets ticked in this abduction horror maybe bordering on comedy and accompanying clichés... but stick with it coz those last 20 mins of the film are seriously in a very dark and crazy space.
Summary... brings nothing new to the genre but those last 20 mins? Who knew?
A beautifully written and filmed movie... the kung fu scenes are amazing and woven within the posturing and history lesson, is a heart melting love story.
What an amazing concept, if you think outside the box and enjoy exploring new ideas then this film might just tick all your boxes.
A low budget Inception that actually makes more sense wants you begin to understand what's happening.
Can't really discuss the film as the slow realisation of what you are witnessing is as important as the concept being explored.
I gave this film 4 stars because it's far better than I thought it would be. Reasonable story an strong lead... reminded me a bit of mad max but set in a city rather than Australian post apocalyptic future.
This film is amazing.... but you're going to have to do a lot of the donkey work. We are talking space time and how it's effected by gravity... This is all wrapped up in away only Nolan can... if you loved Inception then you'll get this film.
And yet in the shop were I work I heard someone say to their friends it was the worst film she'd ever seen.
Therefore if you love scifi and you have an open inquisitive mind then you're in for a real treat.
It was ok... We gussed the premise of the film right at the start so big reveal was a bit late... could have been really good if there wasn't a huge array of 'alternative dimension instance' type scifi around.
