I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised with the depth here. Very well acted and the story was gripping as well as emotionally engaging. The plot takes a slight wobble towards the end but I thoroughly enjoyed the characters relationships, especially the dynamic between a mother and her son. It's a kind of tragic story and a peculiar film as it jumps genres from drama to thriller to action. Recommended.
Only watched because of the composer - Max Richter. Some of his other work is glorious (e.g. Hostiles and The Lunchbox) and the soundtrack here again is top notch. He should have avoided this movie though - absolutely terrible.
“I walked on the moon, what can’t you do?”
Story-line was so-so. Didn't find the overall narrative too absorbing. Cheesy and poorly acted. Usual effects etc. I'm not a fan of the some of the main actors like Boyega and Adam Driver - poorly cast and generally not great actors.
Most of the main cast were mingers including the lead with the exception of J-Lo of course - she still has it even at 50! What an entrance, wow.... was completely mesmerised and those curves.......... Very graphic nudity and some of the extra's are really hot. It's a grim world that no one should be in and the movie goes to show what sort of a society we really live in. What I learned is that the strippers are just as greedy / materialistic as the wall street morons otherwise they wouldn't have resorted to criminality .... so no difference there really.
Terrible movie. Can’t believe this sort of crud is made.
The only reason I gave it an extra star was the soundtrack which had some resonance but then I listen to everything in Atmos so most movies sound superb
Spoiler alert.
What a picture!
I was stunned by the way the story was told. Really made me think about what really happened in the America’s during the expansion out west. Cinematography was stunning.
Fascinating look at a difficult subject and a nuanced performance by Bale.
“What we did to the Natives can’t be forgiven” and “Chief, I had a friend.....” were the 2 scenes that really got me. Jaw-dropping.
