Tales That Witness Madness is one of the weaker anthology movies that came out during this period, however that's not to say it's still enjoyable and entertaining hokum even if some of the tales border on the ridiculous. Well worth watching for sexy Joan Collins and the delicious Mary Tamm who is sadly no longer with us. As footnote I would like to say a big thank you to Cinema Paradiso for having films like this in their library. I love delving back into the archives to find old films like this and CP serves this purpose perfectly. Long may you continue. In my eyes DVD/BLU RAY rental is still the best way to watch films. Thank you.
It really is time to put this franchise to bed. Very disappointing prequel. If you want a real buzz just watch the 1974 original.
Get Out is without doubt the best movie I've seen in ages. Tense, suspenseful, gripping and at times slightly uncomfortable viewing. But utterly brilliant from beginning to end.
I used to work in a video rental outlet back in the 80s and I am currently re living my youth by re watching all those horror movies from that time. When I saw DWU back then I didn't think it was too bad. Sadly today it comes across as an utter piece of garbage. Avoid .
Brian De Palma's Dressed To Kill still stands up today as a sizziling piece of film making. Most people know the story but if for some reason this has passed you by then I urge you to check it out. It has all the classic De Palma ingredients, eroticism, set pieces, split screen and a haunting score. Angie Dickinson oozes sex appeal in the little screen time she has. Michael Caine is....well, Michael Caine and Nancy Allen looks terrific. 70's cinema at it's best.
I won't say too much about this awful piece of rubbish because that is exactly what it is. Everything about it is dreadful and also it appears that Anchor Bay have released a heavily edited tv version . AVOID

It's one of Hollywood's worst kept secrets that Steven Spielberg and not the late Tobe Hooper directed Poltergeist and it certainly shows in this sequel. That's not to say that The Other Side is a bad movie because it isn't. As a stand alone horror flick it's fine, it just lacks that magic that Spielberg injects into his movies.
If ever proof was needed that Tobe Hooper didn't direct Poltergeist, then this film is it. The half decent pyrotechnic FX (for it's time) save it from getting one star. Also the DVD transfer is very poor quality.
The Ruins is a nasty little shocker which has some truly disturbing scenes. The only slight disappointment was the ending which was non conclusive and felt rushed, hence the three stars instead of four. Still worth checking out though.
Deadly Blessing is one of the late Wes Craven's lesser known and under rated movies but it is well worth a watch as it is surprisingly good. Good cast and performances and is beautifully shot. If you like your horror on the milder side then this may float your boat.
I worked in a video rental outlet through the whole of the 80's and was (and still am) a big horror movie buff. Slugs was one of a handful of films that slipped through the net which I never got round seeing. 30 years later I finally got round to seeing it. Was it worth it!!! Hell yes. It's a great little creature feature B movie with great gore FX and it manages to entertain throughout. Perfect late Friday night viewing.
Don't let the KNOCKERS put you off this film. Yes it is awful but in a way in which you just can't help liking it and it has the best end credits ever commited to celluloid.
