Interesting two hander, concerning Will 20 year old footballer on a stag weekend? who is found naked and chained to a lamp post by Michael. Michael helps him to free himself from the lamp post and takes him back to his apartment, where a game of do I or don't I want to have a good time with Michael haunts Will. Rather slow at times you get drawn into will he or won't he give every thing up and stay with Michael. It is one those films you will either like it or the opposite, there is no middle road on this one.
This is a poor version of what was a very good play expanded no doubt to appease the financial backers.
A very interesting film covering initially the suicides of a significant number of Polish soldiers living in the Uk and a leak that lead to a British journalist uncovering the facts of the KATYN massacre which governments of the day were so desperate to cover up for what ever reasons? The story line kept moving at a very steady pace keeping one enthralled and the acting of the ensemble cast was outstanding.
A classic Woody Allen film, full of intricacies that draw you into the film, even when it is not one of his best. However I still am at loss as to the plot line need of the story surrounding Kate Winslet's characters son!
complete waste of a rental, the four films were to most boring I have ever had to endure! How they ever gone produced let alone released is beyond me.
A very interesting film show the germination of the AIDS epidemic in France and the impact it had on the lives of various members of the community. Holding the film to gather was the enduring relationship between Manu and Adrien who later becomes one of the leading activists in Paris with his connections to the health service. Sub plots also help to keep the story line moving and added an extra dimension to film. Having lived through this period I found it fascinating and thought provoking at the same time.
Very good in parts, absolute howler in other aspects yet the film keeps going at a pace through to an ending that left me wondering is there a follow on to come! I hope not!
I gave up halfway through it, just could not get into to it and at that point the story line was too thin for me!
Interesting film that showed up society as it was where the powerful deperate for their gong will go out of their way to ruin the lives of anyone who gets in there way. Patricia Clarkson's character was the classic example of those who have gone before and after to get there way no matter how many lives they ruin. My major gripe was that apart from the main characters, the rest were so feeble that the actors had nothing to get their teeth into and were just going through the motions. A film with better direction and script could have been so much better!
The film evolves around Mathew who becomes totally fixated with Mathias to extent of altering his life to be so like Mathias. Interesting concept which works in parts but at times I felt the film makers were starching the script to breaking point. Felt this would have had more impact as a short film!
Watchable if unexciting movie about Wild Bill Hickok, cleaning up the town Abilene for the mayor acted by Kris Kristofferson and who nearly stole the acting honours. Script wise OK but nothing exceptional which in turn leads to an OK film. One of those films to watch on a rainy day!
Interesting film covering the reunion of Shane and Pitch former lovers who reunite with both off them having issues to live with. Pitch struggling with a terminal illness and Shane the loss a daughter. Visually good to look at but the story line is drawn out and while watchable it did not enthral me and at times my concentration started to wonder!
A fascinating performance from Daniel Day Lewis on what is reported to be his swan song from film making, ably supported by Lesley Manville as his sister. I was not sure about the lead female actor Vicky Krieps, something made me feel that at time she was just going through the motions. For a film about high fashion it kept me interested, but not one I could whole heartedly recommend.
This film centres around Miles who is gay, wants to leave his home town to study film in Chicago, but has his plans derailed by the death of his father and his spending of Miles education fund to buy a new car for his Mistress. Forced to have to get a scholarship Miles enrolls for the volleyball team, which previously was women only, succeeds with the resultant backlash from the other teams. Through dogged determination with the help of his mother he wins through to be seen leaving for Chicago.
Good performances from the ensemble cast, for a film which very quickly drew you into it through to its acceptable ending.
Mixed film with a story line that got confusing at times as to what the real intentions of the lead characters were! A petty thief with a mask fixation, who falls for a potential victim of one of his burglaries, storks him till there is a connection of sorts. There after it is for you the viewers to make what you will of the ending
