a real spy story written by a real CIA agent-no car chases or super hero action b ut a very enjoyable film with a good twist to the plot at the end.
Much better than theA TOMIC Blonde.
Cannot understand why some reviewers could not follow the story!,& one thought it a waste of time.Lets have more like this with natural tales
rather than the usual comic book ROBOcop films.
This is a curious mix of two stories.Well photographed except the beginning (disjointed & confusing).Second tale better as I couldnt
understand the shooting in the first. Why didnt the cop(in the second) spot the room changes? Apart from Dinah Washington-I didnt likethe
the music. As Tarantino said it was one of his favourite fims-I looked forward to seeing it ,but disappointing.
An absorbing story if what somewhat implausible but very enjoyable, nice music as well.
Makes a change from the usual violent & car chase films.
Predictable plot with usual cliches but quite enjoyable. Fr om the scenery point ,they obviously did not spend much money. It could almost
have been done on the stage.I do not know Ethan Hawke but he fitted the character & Travolta is always worth watching.
Entertaining but Thought that Craig,s accent terrible. What was the point? Also it was silly Marta being sick when she lied & was the boy in the bathroom necessary.Apart from those matters it was an enjoyable Agatha Christie romp although the details of the plot were a little confusing
as unlike a book you cannot refer back.Lets have more whodunnits.
Disappointing .It tries to be serious like a Spahgetti Western but turns out to be a bit silly. The Indians came from nowhere & how crazy was it for the Mexicans whom they had been killing to help them on the wagon at the end,It was all too predictable.
Also the Disc kept stopping & the picture became broken up in a couple of places, although it managed to carry on & finish.
Good boys picture (No Women Whatsoever).Plenty of action-ending predictable ,final shoot out like a Spahgetti Western.Rugged scenery &
fine supporting actors. The meetup in the saloon seemed a bit far fetched but otherwise entertaining.
Starts off as documentary, dull compared to modern films but gets better in the Courtroom drama & Dana Andrews s excellent in the
conclusion.Good support from established actors-Ed Begley,Arthur Kennedy,Karl Malden & Lee j.Cobb.
Good Film Noir .
Excellent plot with twists ,well photgographed in B&W with superb Miles Davis music score.Could not understand why Jeanne Moreau
would get more years than the actual murderer.
A compelling film but not pleasurable as it depicts true events.Actors are good & monochrome suits it.What is interesting is that Robert Blakes
life is more melodramatic than this film-one of his wives was murdered (she had 10 husbands) & he was charged with her murder!Worth watchng I look forward to seeing the film CAPOTE>
Very good, although I guessed part of the end when Laughton said he wasnt satisfied but not the final twist. It shows there is no need for crazy
car chases or exploding bombs etc ,just a good story. Its a pity Hollywood doesnt make films like this any more.Girls where I worked said they would not watch it as it was black & white, but I do not think you need Colour if you have a good plot & decent actors.
Strange but interesting film.Acting was good but I couldnt see the point in making it modern. The death of Rivers was weird & why was only one
prince murdered by Tyrell ,what about his brother? Jim Carter (Hastings) was quite slim & young whereas Maggie Smith looked as she did in
Downton Abbey.Battersea Power station was easily recogniseable,as were other buildings.W orth seeing as a different slant on the Play.
Too long & very dark at the beginning-difficult to make out who was who.Realistic with men who were afraid-no gung ho but too much silly
American talk.Glad it was B&W without gratuitous violence .Good characterships with dependable Actors but little action.Having read the
Crictics reviews,Iwas expecting something better but worth seeing.
Clever plot if a bit far fetched, but good film for that period.Glad it was in B&W ,more dramatic although ending pred ictable.I have seen
Tamiroff in many films & he always plays a good part.I did not realise that Franchot Tone had been in so many films ,but as they were
before my time ,I have not seen them.
Typical Hitchcock-Dark Handsome man &Blonde chased by Police & badmen, reminiscent of the 39 steps even to the gun in the upstairs
gallery.Very well done photographically - look at the extras to see how the Statue of Liberty shots were done.
