This is a review for the 4k version of Aliens.
The picture quality on this disc is simply stunning. You can see every last detail of the Aliens waiting on the ceilings when the marines enter the building, searching for the missing colonists. Something you cannot see with the dvd and bluray.
Sadly, and yet again Disney have not included the director's cut on this disc. Just the theatrical and special editions. Still it is probably the best this film is ever going to look on disc. Absolutely superb.
This is a film about a hospital that is known only to criminals, who pay for thier treatment by way of a subscription.
Jodie Foster is the nurse who just drips sarcasm with every sentence muttered. And, Dave Batistuta is her sidekick, who gets all the worst jobs.
This is set in a dystopian future and riots are breaking out, which leads to a foreboding atmosphere throughout the film.
The lighting in the hotel hospital is quite dim which also adds to the atmosphere.
The criminals are all nasty and you feel nothing for them.
There is a story behind Jodie Fosters character that slowly develops throughout the film.
When put together this adds up to a satisfying if rather querky movie which deserves a couple of viewings.
This film looks absolutely fantastic in 4k. The detail in the images is so good that you feel like you are on the film set with the actors.
This is definitely John Carpenter's best film. It has a top notch cast, great acting and lots of big explosions.
What a great alien amongst us film this is.
The HDR colour grading and shadow detail is so good that you can see all the frozen water droplets on the Norwegian ice station building.
I just wish that such care is taken with every 4k transfer.
If you have a 4k tv and disc player, what are you waiting for. Rent this now.
