This film was confused as to the focus - it appeared to be as much about Colonel Parker as about Elvis.
It did not work on a number of levels and for a variety of reasons.
Too long, bloated, and boring.
Avoid.
The dialogue was clunky throughout.
The filming looked as if it had been done with a cheap camera and held by a 2nd year film student.
It was a film which became painful to watch, as one began to feel sorry for the people attempting to bring to life a concept which was dead from the start.
Avoid.
Great film, always walking the edge between slapstick and tragedy while keeping hold of your attention.
There is a moment where one sees a pair of shoes and the shock is real.
I had no real expectations of this film but soon found myself drawn in to how the story was unfolded.
The acting was superb and the story telling compelling.
Once the film was complete and the credits rolled, I realised this had been a very good film and one which I would recommend others watched.
Self-indulgent, over long, devoid of chemistry, and leaving you desperate to get to the tired and clichéd end.
This is one of those films which begs the fundamental question - why was it made and then why was it released ?
It is astonishingly bad and has no real saving graces anywhere.
Not sure that I learned more than I did when reading about the events as reported at the time. Might have greater impact for those who do not know the background.
