... this film is poor. It's slow, badly shot, and just - dull. The central idea is strong and yes, I think the idea of a middle class couple being faced by a trio of ruthless criminals and turning out to be as bad as they are, if not worse. The final scene with the chainsaw is memorable, I suppose, as the main bad guy is gradually hunted down, despite putting furniture in the way until there's nothing left, but.... that's about it.
I watched it because I'm a bit of a film fan and had never seen it. But - I'm not glad that I did, frankly.
As much as I'd enjoyed this series, there was a kind of 'lack of Dexter' going on. He was very much on the back foot, very much trying NOT to be his old self. The restraint was killing me, to be honest. Great drama, but - a lot of the pleasure in the original series was watching someone at the top of his game doing his thing.' And that wasn't there.
And then we have the line: 'I don't need Jim Lindsey - I need Dexter Morgan.'
Now I can't wait for the next episodes. I'm hoping I get to see Dexter really free to do what he does best....
Not a bad film at all. But the pacing is a little monotone and it's trying to pull off a kind of 'Inception' vibe, which doesn't quite work. Worth a watch, the visuals are great and there are some good action sequences, but somehow it lacks punch.
You know the way some films are so poorly made they're actually funny? This one is just what it says on the tin. It's a low budget mess, where the first budget cut clearly fell on the script. It's one saving grace is Rowdy Roddy Piper (and there is a moment when he slams a zombies head in the fridge, which made me laugh a bit). And the line "Rowdy Roddy Piper doesn't die for some weekend warrior! I'm an icon. ask Hogan!" He's really much better than this film deserves. But the rest of it looks like a LARP session with heavy rock music.
Thoroughly enjoyed this show but sometimes the chaos gets a little too much! If you liked season one then it’s more of the same.
