One Cut of the Dead

Stick with it!

(Edit) 08/03/2019

Ignore the first review, they clearly didn't make it past the first 45 minutes. This is an genius gem of a film that offers far more than first appearances suggest. Enjoy the first part as low budget zombie gore fest but don't worry it feels a bit shonky, it all falls into place later!Feel-good hit of the year!

The Void

Wowzers

(Edit) 21/09/2017

I didn't know anything about this film before I saw it but was utterly blown away. It takes ideas from several of my favourite classic films such as Hellraiser, The Thing, Evil Dead, Event Horizon, The Abyss and The Mist, and combines to produce something utterly original and captivating. One the best and most innovative horror films of the 21st century.

Metallica: Some Kind of Monster

A brutally honest portait of a band

(Edit) 22/07/2016

I don't usually feel the need to write about films I've seen but this affected me so strong that I couldn't resist. A stunningly crafted portrayal of a group of people going through a tumultuous and transformative period in their lives. It's definitely not just a film for fans of Metallica and should be seen by anyone with an interest in documentary film or just film in general. Highly recommended.

Threads

Gritty and unrelenting realism

(Edit) 16/06/2016

If you've always wondered what actually would have happened in the event of a nuclear holocaust in the UK in the early 80s then this is the film you've been waiting for. It was clearly well researched and there is great attention to detail. Some often acting is a bit wooden and the script is pretty pedestrian but the imagery is of its time it is very effective and brings the grim reality of nuclear war to life. Not a great date movie though...
