A movie about how to write a movie. And in itself it follows the perfect movie paradigm: three acts, a neat narrative arc, clear turning points, character development and a satisfying resolution not only for the two main protagonists but also for all the supports. Hugh Grant offers his usual charming, slightly bumbling persona, but that's no bad thing as he does it so well. Marisa Tomei also does her serious/sexy/kooky act, but that's what's needed here and few can do it better. There are some great Woody Allenish one-liners to add snap to the proceedings. But no nudity, no drugs, no violence, no swearing. Now, that's original.
