Having just read the fantastic translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by Simon Armitage, it was a treat to see David Lowery's interpretation of the story.. with added mix of legend of St Winifred, giants, and an animal companion, this beautiful filmed story unfolded, drawing the audience in.. Dev Patel, such a superb actor, mesmerised with his pain, courage, kindness and search for honour. The Irish scenery and haunting score added to a totally immersive experience, with the clash of Paganism and Christianity

My only criticism was that at times, the screen was so dark it was hard to see what was happening but it did add to 15th century life as portrayed.. that no doubt people accepted as normality!
