Polite Society

Funny, silly and just brilliant overall

(Edit) 23/09/2023

I had so much fun watching this film. It combines action, comedy, family and throws a good amount of Bond in for good measure. It deftly manages to be silly while keeping you rooting for the heroine. The actions sets are great and it reminded me of Scott pilgrim versus the world in parts. The actors are committed and brilliant.  There are several laugh out loud moments and the three school friends scenes steal the show. I bloody loved this film. Five stars!

Charlie's Angels

Give this fun film a go

(Edit) 30/12/2022

I had this film in my list for ages as I loved the first two films but was put off by the poor box office and mixed reviews. It was much better than I expected. I had a really good time watching this and it’s a shame that there won’t be sequels. There was great chemistry with the leads, smart & funny lines throughout and the fighting is much more based in reality than the gravity defying moves of the first two films. I thought Elizabeth Banks did a great job with this film. It’s a Friday film that isn’t taking but is definitely a hoot. Give it a go.

There are much better LGBT movies to watch - skip this one

(Edit) 12/12/2022

There is barely any story, the pace is sluggish and almost nothing of note happens. For it being an apparently LGBT film the cast spends a lot of time talking about girls and sex with girls. There is a lot of lingering groin camera shots and plenty of male full frontal nudity but it’s feels gratuitous rather than adding something to the story. One to avoid.
