A Good Year

Unfunny slapstick romcom

(Edit) 22/12/2021

This film ended up on my watch list for reasons I do not recall and it has been a colossal waste of time (mine) and talent (Ridley Scott's and Russell Crowe's).

The Flower of My Secret

A rare misstep from Almodovar

(Edit) 08/12/2020

He's my favourite director but my god is this boring. It's hard to care about any of the characters but I guess this was an important milestone in the development of his melodrama storytelling technique. And it looks beautiful, as always. And good acting, as always.

Blind Chance

Dire filmmaking that thrilled 70s audiences

(Edit) 13/05/2020

Why is Kieslowski considered a great director? On the basis of this film, you'd be hard pressed to answer. Dreary, pretentious, dry, sort of the film version of a post-modern dissertation at an ex-Poly.

I Promise You Anarchy

Boring, pointless

(Edit) 02/12/2019

I struggled to care about these characters. They just came across as annoying and tedious. A missed opportunity to reflect what’s happening in Mexico.
