Really enjoyed this film. Great to reflect on how times have changed in the right direction. Good to be reminded of how the Miss World Contests were run. Well done to those women who infiltrated the contest and made their voices heard peacefully.
The setting of the film in the famine period in Ireland was virtually irrelevant to the story. I think Liam Neeson may have got his ideas for killing hundreds of people single handily in his Taken films from this.
It was a light, fluffy film and a great distraction from working in the NHS in very trying conditions at present. It was visually beautiful, a bit of comedy and romance. What more could you want?
This film really was a waste of time watching. it was terrible. At the end of the film we were left wondering what it was about and what had happened - but had gone beyond caring.
What was Morgan Freeman doing in a film like this? We managed to stick with it for appro. 40 minutes, but it was just endless, pointless chasing involving shooting - just ss over the top.
Perhaps too true to life for some people. There was nothing good about this film. The current recession is making life hard for most people due to the uncertaintity about the future, so we need a bit of escapism which you do not get from this film.
We watched this with our 10 year old son. We had forgotton that the film was a good example of renforcing moral standards of living to children. It also demonstrated that the way children play with each other hasn't changed over the years.
