I really enjoyed this movie and had read other reviews recommending and praising it. There was, some ‘hairy’ moments, even I looked away. It felt very real and the characters, especially Kevin Costner (George Blackledge) and his wife Diane Lane (Margaret Blackledge) were superb. You believe them to be a normal, ordinary couple. And there is not a lot of dialogue between them or throughout the film, and what is not said is just as important. The tension really builds in parts and you dread, or think what will happen.
The movie certainly kept me gripped, a normal story about a couple who are hit by tragedy. Then the movie unfolds at a steady pace. The cinematography and ‘60s western feel lend itself to its authenticity and richness of the story. I would recommend.
Fantastic performances especially Maxine Peake, she really is a superb actress.
Surprisingly, I enjoyed this series more than the first Criminal Justice. I thought ‘The Night of’ was much better than the original series, which in comparison looked dated, and the storyline took a different turn.
Absolutely superb and riveting, I thoroughly enjoyed this limited series and was hooked. Ahmed and Turturro really stood out and I was saddened to hear Gandolfi was cast in Turturro's role and, due to his sudden death was replaced. Ahmed truly shone due to the metamorphosis of his character, he wholly deserves his Emmy ward for his betrayal in The Night of. The casting was excellent, there was one obvious fact the defense missed, I wonder if you can spot it? Sadly, no reprise or second run thanks to HBO confirmed its cancellation. I hope it is picked up and continued by another streaming service, however, it would need a new storyline. Brilliant, do watch it and enjoy.
