What a wonderful way to tell a story of Life....and death in the war torn country of Lebanon. At times an almost documentary feel the story portrays a mother who whilst temporary abroad returns when she looses contact with her young son and sister as Israel bombards their homeland of southern Lebanon. The experience of loss, fear, to blame ones self for not being there, are all wonderfully shown by the leading 'Madam' and supporting cast. This well paced film shows the beauty of the landscape, its architecture and its people and poses the question of why do the stupidity and barbaric ravages of war continue. Superb. Excellente!
This is a wonderful film. Very intelligently put together using an observant, sensitive, thoughtful script which between director and a superb cast makes the nicely paced 117 minutes engrossing as to how it will end. With the past few years seeing western societies closing off Iran, this film shows a country and society that is slowly changing, which copes by blending modern and traditional values shown through the family at the centre of this film. Five stars!
This must be one of the most beautiful and rich films ever made. The directing and superb acting to a script that was intelligent and so aware of male/female real life thoughts and history fitted to a landscape and climate that too appears beautiful and yet harsh underneath. To any person remotely interested in viewing a good story or for a story based in modern day Middle East with a changing social times, this you must view; Excellente!
