This is an all-time Great Film about post-WW 2 theatrical society in New York. The cast is brilliant with Bette Davis & George Sanders leading from the off. You are in for a real treat.
To get the most out of this film it would help to read the story of Orphyus & Eurydice first, unless of course you are already familiar with it. The cinema photography is amazing at times and it is a bit tough to keep up. But Cocteau has cast a magic spell for you delight.
If you are confused at the beginning of this film, just stick with it and you are in for a treat. Brilliant acting, fantastic locations and memorable sound track combine to make a most compelling and enjoyable film. Maybe only a French director could make this type of film and get away with it.
This is an excellent film, especially if you wish to brush up on your history. The story of the Prince of Wales had particular relevance. And if you thought our parliament was fractious it seems this has a long track record. And for literary folk Fanny Burney was Lady in Waiting to the Queen
Caroline and was chased around Kew Gardens by the King. Good fun all round.
