Clint as watchable as ever, but the plot is rather wishful thinking.
He is much too old for the character too!
As with all his films,it's very entertaining, and some of the other cast member's turn in excellent performances too.
It's a mystery how Bernard Hill became involved with this, but nice to see him working.
I gave up on this!
I've been a fan of Paul Hogan since the 'seventies, but Crocodile Dundee seems to have been his swansong.
This film seems to be a vehicle to showcase the vacuity of the "celebrity"circuit, and perhaps to boost the ratings of a cast list of has beens?
Many of them I had'nt realised have ever "been"something, and they all seem including, sadly Hogan himself,to be on "auto pilot"here.
I managed about half an hour of it then bailed out, alas.
Prap's it's just me?
I generally love Australian films, but this one is a real turkey.Perhaps some Aussies of a certain generation could relate to it,but I gave up after about 30 min.
The biggest mystery to me is how they managed to persuade Kylie Minogue to appear in it.It does'nt do her any favours at all!!
In fairness, the acting is pretty good,as you loathe all the characters!!
Powerful performances from all concerned, make this a compelling view.
Portray's the "old West"in a "warts n all" light,a seismic shift from "cowboys n injuns".
Here,the "good guy's" don't all wear white hat's either.
Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones on good form, but all credit to the able support cast too.
Marvellous filming, but the whole thing comes over more as a hand wringing documentary than a drama.
The cast do their best it seems, but it all appears to be contrived to show the hopelessness of trying to integrate an ancient culture and way of life into the modern world.
Glamourising criminals as colourfull characters, does'nt detract from the fact that they are still(murderous!)criminals.
Good performances here, but weak plotline made worse by sentimental overview.
The closer that Ben Hall never actually killed anyone, owes more to luck and the fact that all the combatants seemed to be such lousy shot's.
Had there been any convenient barn doors, they would'nt have hit them!
I was apprehensive that the makers of this film series would not be able to recreate the drama of the original Das Boot film.
However, they have done serious credit to the original, while expanding upon it too.
The plot is divided between action at sea,and in port, with remarkably good performances from a largely unknown cast.
The gritty reality of life serving in a U.Boat is portrayed well, and the action set pieces are thrilling too.
Period and technical detail appears to be spot on and well researched, with the characters of the boats crew in particular being examined.
For anyone interested in events surrounding WW2,and perhaps the U.Boat phenomina in particular, this series is a must to view.
I look forward to the next series, which is already in production I hear.
Another good performance from Jessie Buckley in a rather twee plot, but what a remarkably good singer she is too!!!
The soundtrack is made up of song's from and sung by ,some well known singers, but Jessie has singer and writing credits for many of the other song's!.
She surely has another career opportunity as a singer.
If you like country music, this film is a treat for the soundtrack alone.
