Yeh very different to anything i have seen in any other film..
yep worth a watch or even a second viewing
one of the most unusual film and very imaginative, alongside a good mix of USA and Iran- working together..
Fascinating
Not as Good as Lean's 'Ryan's Daughter', It doesn't quite get to that powerful and sad presence.
But it still is worth watching- the build up is good- the characters are as well-- just doesn't quite work at the end..
Spoiler alert- sorry
Yeh - slow but convincing - follows the life of the tormented Ludwig 2 of Bavaria..
Lovely sets and costume and acting is superb
watch and see..
A brilliant film. the acting feels modern. louise Brooks and the rest of the cast carry the film at a great pace.
Like many silent movies this one is a revelation and a surprise to how good it is. I think too many people think silent movies are disconnected to real life and current topics and are something only to be mentioned in a museum and not to be enjoyed. This film is so imaginative, if it had sound and was shown today it would still make an impact, nothing in it is not relevant to today's viewers.
Powerful film. The acting, especially the main character is superb. A sad and harrowing movie at times. Really worth a watch if you can cope with a dark side to your movies.
Fantastic series of documentaries! There are 2 disks, I think?. watched 'Letter to siberia,' ' Descriptions of a Struggle' 'Sunday in peking'.
Have mesmerising imagery and some quirky studio footage alongside some eccentric animation sequences that appear mid documentary.
Looking forward to see more.
I think this is the best film, Clint Eastwood directed.
Riveting from start to finish.
great story and acting- quirky, obscure side to the American civil war.
Yes you can tell Clint Eatwood had just stepped out of the Leone trilogy of spaghetti westerns , many references to those 3 amazing films, the score, style of acting, camera angles, dark story line and so on.
Doesn't quite work on the sound, bit irritating, jarring at times and feels slightly out of sync - acting is quite good- story line - great- just some of the composition is clumsy, lacks the depth and Leone style, the leone style kinda of makes the film more interesting. Not as good as the later 'Josey Wales', though Clint is just learning his craft so it can be forgiven.
