Caroline Barry stars as feminist reporter Nellie Bly in this American drama about her time in a madhouse. Set in 1887, the film follows the 23-year-old journalist as she goes undercover in a women's mental asylum on Blackwell Island. Working for Joseph Pulitzer's 'New York World', Nellie feigned insanity to spend ten days in the madhouse for an exposé on the facility's reported brutal and negligent actions towards its patients. Her published revelations would revolutionise care for mentally ill women and the diagnosis of mental illness in America.
