Namrata Singh Gujral directs this comedy starring Nargis Fakhri, Rajkummar Rao and Candy Clark. Determined to get ahead in her job, American journalist Shania Dhaliwal (Fakhri) accepts an assignment from her editor Claudia Burrell (Clark) to write a piece about Indian wedding ceremonies. Despite her Indian heritage, Shania was born and raised in America and so has very little knowledge of Indian culture. When she arrives in Punjab Shania is greeted by policeman Harbhajan Singh (Rao) who has been tasked with escorting her to several weddings about which she will write her article. Her story takes a very different angle however when she meets a community known as Hijra, transgender people employed to dance at weddings. Eager to learn more about the Hijra people, Shania befriends her way into their lives with a view to exposing their mistreatment to the world.
