Three films looking at the history of road hauling in Britain. In 'Dodging the Column (1952)', Scammells handle the transport of a distillation column from Greenwich to Grangemouth. The load was 137 feet long and the journey over 500 miles but the crew managed to keep their good humour throughout the journey. In 'They Take the High Road (1959)', four BRS drivers recount tales of the two years they worked together. During that time they transported 20,000 tons of cement up craggy mountain roads in Scotland. Finally,in 'Journey to the Sea (1952)', an Atkinson Lorry driver journeys from Preston to Wales with a propellor on almost deserted roads.
