Abby Clark (Connie Britton) is a 42-year-old 911 operator in Los Angeles, who takes care her mother who is having dementia. She receives a call from a mother whose her son has hit his head to the diving board, and guides her what to do until the first responders arrive, with Fire Captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause), and his team firefighter Evan Buckley (Oliver Stark), firefighter Howie Han (Kenneth Choi) and Henrietta Wilson (Aisha Hinds), paramedic. Bobby is writing up Evan because he is using the truck during his shift and he is having sex with girls in it. A call for a newborn baby who is stuck in the pipes of a building will bring Bobby’s team in the scene trying to save the baby, while Police Officer Athena Grant (Angela Bassett), is trying to locate the mother of the child.
