On September 11, 2001, the New York Fire Department woke up to its worst day in its history. Immediately following the attack on the World Trade Center, the City's bravest ran into the Twin Towers while a firestorm raged above them. While leading thousands of civilians to safety, the fire-fighters headed up courageously toward the fires. Devastatingly, the towers collapsed, and as they collapsed so did the hopes and dreams of the families of 343 fire-fighters. The devastated brotherhood of the FDNY was suddenly faced with an unimaginable challenge: to come to grips with an unprecedented loss, to dig through the wreckage and recover their dead and to keep fighting fires, while trying to slowly rebuild their lives once again, slowly working their way toward a sense of normality. Feature is an incredible insight into the tight bond that exists within the brotherhood of the New York Fire Department.
