Synopsis:
USSR, Late November, 1941 - this is the story of Panfilov's Twenty-Eight, a group of twenty-eight soldiers of the Red Army's 316th Rifle Division, under the command of General Ivan Panfilov, that stopped the advance on Moscow of a column of fifty-four Nazi tanks of the 11th Panzer Division for several days. Though armed only with standard issue Mosin-Nagant infantry rifles and DP and PM-M1910 machine guns, all useless against tanks, and with wholly inadequate RPG-40 anti-tank grenades and PTRD-41 anti-tank rifles, they fight tirelessly and defiantly, with uncommon bravery and unwavering dedication, to protect Moscow and their Motherland.

Not just another war movie - Battle for Moscow review by DM

Spoiler Alert
23/10/2017

This film which the makers crowd funded, is based on the true story of how a small group of Russian soldiers stood between the might of the Nazi war machine, including tanks and heavy artillery bombardment, and Moscow.

For days they fought back with the utmost courage and defended they're position destroying or disabling countless tanks in the process, it was a really good film and well worth watching.

Soviet Propaganda - Battle for Moscow review by Peter B

Spoiler Alert
10/07/2020

This film supposedly covers an event in the Battle for Moscow in WW2. Turns out this was a piece of soviet propaganda during the war that has little authenticity. Russians still celebrate it and there are statues to the heroes.Check out the truth on wikipedia. I hate it when historical films or TV mess with actual events.

There were millions of heroic deeds during the horrendous russian campaign, unfortunately this film portrays one dreamt up by the authorities to bolster morale. The idea that 28 guardsmen saved Moscow is complete bollocks.

All a bit unnecessary as basically the Russians won the second world war and their population paid the most horrific price.
